As much as it pains me to say, It’ going to be a cold one this year. I forgot my gloves cycling to work the other day and it took until about lunchtime for my hands to regain feeling.
I just don’t think a regular cycling jacket will cut it for me this winter. Well, not without 5,767,880 layers underneath.
Enter the Mia Melon Commuter jacket.
As if being from Canada didn’t already make them experts in with dealing with cold weather, one of Mia Melon’s founders was a pioneer in the West Coast snowboard industry in the 1990s. This expertise really shows in the functional urban design and the technical features that make this cotton jacket waterproof and windproof.
It has an adjustable waist so you can nip it in to make it more flattering, or let it out if you are wearing more clothes underneath.
This zip up jacket can also be unzipped from the bottom if you need more movement as you pedal. It also features three pretty decent sized zip-up pockets.
The sleeves are slightly longer and angled so that they cover your hands and protect them from the cold while cycling. The roll-down cuffs have reflective strips for added visibility.
I often cycle out of town to go for walks so the fact that this jacket has a removable hood is a pretty big deal for me.
I’d actually go as far as calling it a coat because it is thicker than a jacket and fleece lined so is super warm and the neck zips up high enough for you to not need to wear a scarf. If you start to feel too warm, you can open the underarm zippers to let some air in.
The Mia Melons coats come in Olive, Black and Red and are £159.99. Shop Mia Melon coats
