L-R: Urban legend Winterbreaker £149.99, Fairisle belt £15.99, Henrichs Angel wings cape £66, Henrichs ladies vest £72, No Such thing jacket £210.
As the darkness cheekily encroached on my commute and school pick ups this week, I new it was time to get prepared….My reflectives of choice this year are:
1. The Retro Reflective Fairisle Belt £15.99 which works a treat over my new camel coat. It’s really easy to put on and it’s adjustable so you can get the fit just right.
2. Some Rydesafe butterfly reflective stickers £8.50 stuck to the back of my daughter’s bike seat. These are great fun if you have kids as they can help you decorate!
3. And the Pièce de résistance my Tracey Neuls Fern Bike boots in reflector grey £250. These boots are so comfortable and are great for night cycling as have a reflective strip at the back. Having a reflective element on your feet works very well as the motion as you pedal catches the eye of other road users.
If you feel nervous or worried about cycling at night time, getting yourself some good reflective gear can make a BIG difference.
And it helps that there has been huge developments in trendy reflective gear for cyclists in the last few years. As the Cycle Chic movement gathers momentum and more and more people want to look like themselves on their bikes (not sporty anoraks or a construction workers) there has been a rise in designers coming up with cool reflective wear. We are excited to welcome some new brands that are part of this high fashion hi viz movement…
First up is Henrichs from London based designer Sarah Henrichs. Henrichs boasts range of highly stylish reflective items for cyclists, walkers and any active types who need to be seen in the dark. Our favourite items are the Beautiful ladies vest £72. It falls really nicely over a coat and come in regular grey or pink! And the item that has to be quite simply the cutest reflective accessory we have to ever seen. The Glitter Angel Wing Cape £66 as modeled below by Elsie.
Another brand making waves is No Such Thing, launched earlier this year by designer and cyclist, Clare Farrell. Along with her beautifully tailored fishtail trench coat (pictured far right on the lineup above) No Such thing have also created these wonderful Reflective leggings £79. We have been trying these on at the Cyclechic office and love them. They are comfy, flattering and work brilliantly for cycling or jogging day or night!
Lflect are another exciting brand from London based designer Elena Corchero. We went to visit them in their East London studio last year and were blown away by all the wonderfully creative reflective products they were working on. Our favourite has to be the Lflect Reflective Woolen scarf £87.99.
