Our girl Jude reviews the new Urban Legend Winterbreaker ladies cycling jacket £149.99…
It’s that time of year when I think I need ladies a scarf, then after about 12 seconds cycling, I’m boiling and trying to find a way to take it off with one hand and put it around my waist or in my pocket or tie it around my handle bars without strangling myself and screaming “I HATE SCARVES” in its face.
Fast forward a few months (OK, it’s the UK so a few weeks or even days) and god forbid if I forget a scarf I’ll be crying as I try to wrap my hair around my neck in its place making it look like I have a beard. And all that is bearable until I stop at a zebra crossing and hear a mother tell her child to “Thank the crying lady with a beard on her bike for letting us cross.”
You don’t need to worry about scarves or the lack there of with this jacket because it has a protective collar flap that does the job of a scarf and if you get hot you just undo the Velcro. Easy.
At a glance this is a basic black jacket, which has to be my favourite thing about it. It is sporty but has a few contemporary twists that make it a bit special. The pleat detail on shoulders gives it a couture feel and adds a nice silhouette as does the flattering tailoring. It goes in at the waist so is fitted and a bit feminine and has a slight stretch so is very comfortable. Multicoloured thread pulls add a flash of colour. Unlike a lot of cycling jackets, it has a hood so offers extra shelter from the rain and cold
Style: Sports lux. It perfectly fuses style and comfort.
Wearable off a bike? Absolutely.
Waterproofness: ‘Weatherproof’ will take a decent amount of shower. Fabric will dry quickly
Warmness: It’s fleece lined and windproof.
Visibility: Super Reflective zip detailing
Is it easy to stash away? Yes, it won’t crease and isn’t bulky so can fold up quite small.
Colours: I reviewed the black with reflective zip but it also comes in Navy with mustard yellow zip, if black’s not your thing.
