Here at Cyclechic HQ, we never tire of looking at vintage bicycle adverts. Right now, we are obsessed with these ones from Nottingham’s finest, Raleigh. Just looking at them is making us want to pack our panniers and head off on an adventure. The vintage style gets us everytime and we’ll be honest, the idea of not having to wear tights seems pretty ideal. Here are some adverts we’ll be be doing some cycle style stealing from:
This turbanised headscarf and what we can only assume is a red trimmed white playsuit under a waistcoat are pretty special and we are absolutely ready to start rocking ankle socks.
Again with the red headscarf. Seems it was a cycle staple back in the day. Lets bring that trend back. Also, the short cullottes are great for cycling without flashing pants and it would be rude not to mention those red Mary Janes.
We are going to go right ahead and believe this lady is wearing double denim. We are on board with that. The thin belt to clinch in the waist adds a perfect finishing touch.
Yes to stripes and the beret gives this outfit a certain French je ne sais quoi. Not sure if we’ll be taking up smoking though.
We can only dream of such a luscious mane. Our windswept cycling hair doesn’t look quite like that. The yellow top looks great but we’re not sure a white skirt would work for us with London puddle splash back but we respect her bravery and optimism.
Talk about squad goals. Where could they be going, looking so fine without a hair of place. The man in the knee high socks is a keeper. What a fetching aqua ensemble she is wearing as she indicates. Wait, is that a shumper we see?
It’s hard to see exactly what she is wearing as she is just going so gosh darn fast. Red shoes though, it’s all about the red shoes.
This is totally practical cycling gear. The giant hat, the white maxi dress, the flowing pashmina. Did we mention everything is made of Lycra?
His jacket makes him look like a humbug which is fine because we love humbugs. Her rasberry beret and coordinated sleeveless coat are pretty rocking.
